post-election reading time
so much better than absorbing Bad Takes coming from every direction or shutting down completely, at least for me
right now, in my little media consumption ecosystem / sense of reality, it feels like everyone is somewhere between trying to point fingers, issuing platitudes, and wavering between doomerism and sticking one’s head in the sand. it’s hard to not resent people (on the left and the right…) or want to make grand, definitive statements. worth noting how splintered of realities people are operating in, and whether or not someone is posting is not indicative of whether or not they believe in or contribute to whatever social causes (this goes in both directions).
anyways, here’s some stuff i’ve found helpful to sit with this week! wishing everyone the best.
what i’ve been listening to:
Death Panel: Grief w/ Sarah Jaffe
Ezra Klein Show: The Book That Predicted the 2024 Election
what i’m reading:
Dissent Magazine: Exit Right by Gabriel Winant
Read Max: The TikTok Electorate by Max Read
New York Times: The Way Harris Lost Will Be Her Legacy by Tressie McMillan Cottom
New Yorker: How America Embraced Gender War by Jia Tolentino
Slate: Ad Man by Alexander Sammon
Atlantic: Voters Wanted Lower Prices At Any Cost by Annie Lowrey
User Mag: Why Democrats won’t build their own Joe Rogan by Taylor Lorenz
