hello friends,
there are once again more of you despite my inconsistent posting! thank you! unfortunately, this will not be a long one — i have been less able to think/write for extraordinarily valid personal reasons and events that i genuinely believe, ego aside, should be in a memoir someday. but that day is far away!
in the meantime…
two things i did actually write:
got to interview sarah thankam mathews about all this could be different which is now out in paperback
reviewed meg kissinger’s memoir while you were out which resonated with me deeply when it comes to the complexity of watching loved ones struggle with mental illness
recent photos i took that i am v proud of: (best way to follow this is instagram)
you can see i am an indie pop devotee lol
del water gap! there’s something so electric about his live stage presence
reneé rapp! who i first saw on the show sex lives of college girls and is so multi-talented
maude latour! i took all the photos in her post for chicago :) remember tho that the clout to profit ratio in the arts is insane
chappell roan! every time i listen to “casual” i feel attacked somehow
well you made it this far so i guess i’ll tell you what i’ve read that i have really enjoyed:
extremely online by taylor lorenz
catch and kill by ronan farrow
how much of these hills is gold by c. pam zhang
olga dies dreaming by xochitl gonzalez
a living remedy by nicole s. chung
just got myself on freedom by maggie nelson and demon copperhead by barbara kingsolver
a few articles:
on taylor swift eating at restaurants like the rest of us
the body keeps score guy and his legacy
kylie cheung on her new book survivor injustice which is on my to-read
ace representation on sex education
jia tolentino interviewed julia fox
i only read artists on AI for the most part
thoughts i found in my notes app in the last few months:
i think if a man yelled at me I’d run
does nurse and teacher quitting content on social media have a significant impact on how people view the professions
source confusion between social media post and conversation is depressing
ok, thank you! hope to write again soon!
Damn yeah I can never remember whether something I want to reference was an irl conversation/original thought I had or something I saw in the comments section under a post. Yikes
